Janet Kroon

Janet completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Michigan State University and her master’s degree in Christian education from Wheaton College. In the years to follow, she enjoyed teaching children in the public and private classrooms as well as developing childrens’ ministries in several churches.

After Janet was married in 1981, she began her Suzuki violin training and started teaching private lessons in the home in the Washington, D.C. area. During this time, Kristina was born (May 14, 1984), and then Peter (August 14, 1985). As Kristina and Peter grew, God’s calling to home-school our family became evident. Janet started home-schooling by opening up a pre-school in the basement. She was also active in the Community Bible Study at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland, where she served as a core group leader and childrens’ ministry director.

When Kristina and Peter reached the fifth grade, God led us to join the ATI program. The next big milestone in our family was moving out to Toledo, Ohio. Over the next five years, Janet invested her time, energy, and talents serving at the Christian school as secretary to the athletic director, children’s librarian, Character First! and Chapel coordinator, as well as teaching private violin lessons while still home-schooling Kristina and Peter.

Janet’s home-schooling years were concluded when Kristina and Peter graduated from high school in 2002. Since then, she has been devoting her time to teaching private violin lessons in the home, playing in the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra, the Four Seasons Quartet, and the Emmanual Baptist church orchestra, as well as assisting the elementary/junior high string program in Perrysburg, Ohio. She also has enjoyed leading a womens’ Bible study at church.
